This is a crop from a picture of the Marshall Meadows accident of 1880 I do have a better quality print but its cropped so you cant see the Jib/cat head detail. NE was an abreviated form of LNER used on all manner of goods and engineers stock.

Can the original poster try to get the loco number as I cant quite get it from the print. This will enable me to narrow the area down where it is taken from and perhaps get more info from the RA site. Its very similar to the four shots ive posted of the Cramlington derailment.

Tried to get the loco number to help with area, think its LNER 7165 an ex GER J69 0-6-0T if it is its pre 1946. Allocated to Stratford. An F4 took this number post 1946 allocated to Lowestoft. Can the owner of the original pic confirm loco number please. I love these detective stories.

Recently I won these pics on ebay and thought of sharing them here, the owner didn't know anything about them but I recognised various bits of infrastructure so I questioned a couple of mates and they were of the same opinion as me. The pics show I think Gateshead and Tweedmouth cranes in attendance...
