There's no indication that Chris intended to show the actual photo.

He was complying with copyright law by telling us where it could be found rather than republishing without the owner's permission.

Pete, it's sad to see 1561S being made available for sale after all the dedication and hard work you've poured into it.

If there was a medal for such, I'd nominate you to receive it! But there isn't, so you'll have to make do with just a lifetime of pride at the transformation you've carried out.

I suspect that "cables will need to be cut" is an unsubstantiated assumption by the Facebook contributor.

The engineers responsible for the crane at Crewe surely know about de-rigging and wouldn't have made that contradictory statement.

Mark, as a new member of the forum, may be able to answer.

(This is drifting from the forum's subject matter - Railway Breakdown Cranes - so I suggest we restrict to a very brief answer rather than indulge in conversation.)

Mark Tatlow has advised that his father has completed a new railway crane work, this time as a review of the main types of Permanent Way cranes and their development. It will be published by Crecy as Volume 3 to his existing 2-volume Railway Breakdown Cranes, though of course it won't relate to brea...

That seems not a bad price at all for such a detailed, complex and authentic model. I'd have been even more impressed if it were a straight £250!

An excellent website, Bryan. I haven't yet viewed every page but have a suggestion for the 'Volunteer' section... Viewing the pictures is spoilt by the automatic slide-show operation. As any photo is being studied, it is replaced suddenly and unexpectedly by the next one. I'd much prefer them to cha...
