Good spot.

Interesting that a CRARRV is to be used (by now possibly is being/has been used) at Stonehaven. I think this is a "first" in the UK, the used of an armoured recovery vehicle at a railway accident.

Where does it mention / show the CRARRV?

A friend of mine passed me this photo of an article from 1977 about a derailment in Darlington.
Does anyone know any more detail?
Crane in use?
Nothing on the RAIB site. Too early for them I suppose.

We do know that the 2nd page covers a linked incident at a later date.

Ad in latest issue (12-2-20) of Heritage Railway for the Breakdown Crane on the Swanage Railway.
Looks like a clearout of redundant stock as listed with a couple of other vehicles.

There is an interesting pair of photos in the latest Moorsline, the NYMR house mag showing a pair of rather small cranes lifting in the main beam back in 1908. Paired with a shot from the same location showing the 2 KIROW cranes lifting the same beam out this year. Will see if I can get a copy posted.
