I no longer have the (weakish) evidence to hand but I concluded that the big ends on 1931 R&R crane MP3 were fed with grease from new, or at least from quite early in its life. Peter Woad, driver from roughly the mid-1960s to mid-1970s, told me: "Regarding the big ends, they were always gre...

Oops! Well spotted, Tom!

The correct number for C82 is ADRC96704.

All three cranes entered service in 1962, so it seems fair to conclude this to be the year of completion of build.

I'll arrange correction. Time also needs to be found to check/confirm the status of the extant cranes.

There's no indication that Chris intended to show the actual photo.

He was complying with copyright law by telling us where it could be found rather than republishing without the owner's permission.

Pete, it's sad to see 1561S being made available for sale after all the dedication and hard work you've poured into it.

If there was a medal for such, I'd nominate you to receive it! But there isn't, so you'll have to make do with just a lifetime of pride at the transformation you've carried out.

I suspect that "cables will need to be cut" is an unsubstantiated assumption by the Facebook contributor.

The engineers responsible for the crane at Crewe surely know about de-rigging and wouldn't have made that contradictory statement.
