I am led to believe that West Coast at Carnforth do want to dispose of the 45 T steam crane, but would like it to go complete. They are open to offers.

It appears to be the slots in the ring that presses onto the clutch (or the "pin" that goes into it). There is about 1/4" gap when the clutch lever is screwed over one way, or the other. Both clutch ferodo linings appear to be ok (3/8" thick)

Last weekend's steaming saw S1561 slewing for the first time in 25 years. There appears to be way too much excess play in the operating yoke on the clutches. I can engage one clutch but the other will not engage as the screw is on full travel before the clutch starts to move. Anyone got any ideas on...

A successful 3 days in steam. The first time since withdrawal that the crane has been fully working. Not insured for lifting yet, one or two things to sort out first. Pictures to follow.

Coal bunker repaired, painted and refitted. Cab floors all being needle gunned and painted. I am fitting a cladding sheet to the top of the boiler and have made a chimney cover to keep the weather out. I hope to raise steam next week.

Sale finished Sunday evening. Quite a modest price from those I have seen mentioned. It is in good condition sans dust cover.
