 Post subject: sand casting..

I though that it would be interesting to show how I was making parts for my crane using sandbox casting...

so from my previous posting we have a picture of the pattern and finished part...

first pack the part in "delft clay" in a set of casting rings.. (they have alignment markers)

then melt the metal, in this case white metal on the kitchen stove ;-)

then pour it in and wait to set

then break it out of the sand and clean up!!

So this basically allows me to see what the parts will look like when cast in cast iron, which I will be seeing a man about tomorrow!

It's all good fun!!

Superb result, but I hope you had written permission from "senior management" to use the best pan and stove!!! John
