David, I believe that you are right. I also now think that the first photo in the first post is the base for the crab superstructure - the "horns" on the right being part of the jib foot support (in conjunction with the parts you have identified) and the feature between the horns being part of the support for the slewing gear drop shaft.

How about it Alex, do we win the prize?

Ah, I had you baffled for a short while!!

Yes indeed, the first picture is of a top/bottom plate used to fabricate base plate casting! The problem is being able to machine the piece as a whole, the fulcrum needs to be profiled which basically means I would have to used 3D machining, very expensive!!

So yes fabrication is the name of the game with the fulcrums sandwiched between the plates and the smaller thinner ones (above the plate) being used to build the sides.. a number of internal bars are then used to strengthen the give a good anchor point for the crab sides...

So to confirm..

1. base plate and side x2
2. crab sides x4
3. weight relieving bogie buffer beam, lower centre girder and a really cool jib angle pointer x1(per bogie)
4. fulcrum x2 left x2 right (these take about 45 minutes to CNC out)
5. Bogie side etc x4
6. main chassis end plates and fittings..

but a final test, can you identify the on the bottom left of Picture 3? ;-)

As for a prize, i have something in mind!!!

I had it as a side plate to the control lever console in the cab but, looking again, the pattern of holes is different.

So I am 'baffled' (and I don't think it's one of those either). :(

So it's been quite a while. I have been somewhat distracted with one thing and another but I have made some progress!!

It's all starting to get rather heavy now....

Roger, have you got a bit in each room?
And have you got an understanding wife?
Nice to have a bit of home work, but 12" to the foot is a bit extreme.

Afternoon all,
I was reminded recently that i have not posted any progress on my crane in.. well years...

but the truth is that I have not made an amazing amount of progress so I have little to show.

I have managed to make some headway on the match wagon though. so here are a few pictures..

suspension and brakes will finish it off...
