Evenin' all, I thought I better quickly introduce myself before making a first 'serious' posting. I'm a model maker currently working in 7mm scale. My interest in breakdown cranes is therefore fairly specific in that it's either models in general or the two 36t cranes the LSWR ordered (one each from Cowans Sheldon and Ransomes and Rapier). So at the moment I'm trying to find details of the operations associated with the two ex-LSWR cranes around the period of Nationalisation, in order that I can model and use them prototypically. I look forward to seeing what other people are up to and also it'll be interesting to keep abreast of the current state of play with preservation of these fascinating machines. Steph |
