Hi All
My name is Mick House and I was on the Breakdown Gang at Brighton Lovers Walk Depot.
I started with British Rail in 1988 as a Blocker working my way up to Examiner and then cat3 Fitter.
I put my letter in to join the breakdown gang as soon as I could and got in. As I was already a driver I was trained up on the Bruff road/rail lorry quite quickly and later on the Crane.

The first Diesel crane at Brighton was ADRC 96716. After we lost this one (it went to Ashford, photo 1)

Welcome, Mick, good to have you aboard!

Best wishes,

Roger

PS. I was looking at the top photo above for several minutes trying to figure out what had happened to the undercarriage to make it so peculiar, before I realised the RBs are standing in front of the rest of the crane! It's been a long, long day!
