Hi, I've been on the railway all my working life, signalman, booking clerk, Ops Supervisor and now shoving bits of paper around a desk for a TOC.

I've had one brush with real breakdown cranes, in 1993 I was on-call Ops Supervisor at Appleby when a 156 ran into a landslip at Culgaith. My boss and I tossed for who was doing which job, he got to play with the crane as ODS and I spent the day riding up and down waving my Pilotman's armlet at everyone and cursing not having a camera with me.

My current interest is as a modeller, I have a very long term project to build the Kingmoor and Hurlford BTUs as running in the 60s in OO. So far I've managed the Hurlford tool van and half the crane chassis, I also have a pile of bits to do the other vehicles. When I'm not doing that I model the PP&WJR.

I'll be along to pick your brains at irregular intervals and share what I've found out so far if that's ok.
