Post subject:  Greetings from Bucuresti, Romania

Hello everybody,

My name is Alex Giersch, 56 years old, from Bucuresti, Romania.
From the very beginning, I wish to tell you that I have no connection with real cranes. But I like them a lot.
I'm master maker and I use to built, till some months ago, military models.
I discovered some railroad modelling forums and a great bunch of interesting models. Between them, some cranes. And I start to gather data about them. Pictures and drawings. I have here a friend and we wish to make some models ...
I'll ask you to have patience with me, I'm quite a "greenhorn" and maybe I'll ask you silly questions.
I'll try to find here a place where to show you the progress on my models.

I have to say Thanks to David Withers. He was very kind to answer to my e-mail and to invite me here, in your forum.

One more word - you're doing here a great, great job ! You know to respect and preserve your past, what ever it is. Something like that is impossible to be seen here, in my country. We use to sell all we have and I think one day we'll sell ourselves for a handful of money.

Cheers,
Alex

Alex,

Good luck with your modelling of cranes, there are some good examples in the former eastern block countries, I have seen plenty of 100 tonne cranes whilst working in Poland over the years.

Regards

Simon
