I thought that I should introduce myself, as I signed up at the end of November 2012, but this will be my first post on here. I could write quite a lot....but just as a quick summary; here goes......

I am very interested in many aspects of transport and the associated technology. Unfortunately, I don't expect to be able to do anything other than watch the experts at work as far as breakdown cranes are concerned - usually clips on pathe newsreels or youtube - but you never know.......Most of my railway operating experience is narrow gauge rather than standard, but without much call for breakdown cranes.

Personally, my background training is as a Librarian, working mainly in consulting engineering. I own and 'rebuilt' three 1960s British motorbikes, I used to ride them a lot up until a few years ago. More recently I have developed another interest - in boats......

Currently, I work for a specialist restoration company in Haltwhistle, concentrating on timber items. Two of our on-going projects are standard gauge railway carriages.

belated "Season's Greetings" to one and all.

After a serious delay - for a series of various reasons - I might be able to visit here a bit more often in 2016. At least, I hope so !

I enjoyed reading your opening Introduction and it's good to see you here again.

Any images you have of breakdown cranes, now or in the future, would be welcomed for the main website's Gallery.
