Hi, I'm Pete Pickering. I have just been given the task of getting 1561S up at running at Swanage.
I have been involved with Steam in all its forms since my childhood, and have been a full time loco engineer for 40 years now, but I haven't got much experience with cranes. I did some work on the 45T at Grosmont when it first arrived on the NYMR, but that was back in the mists of time!
Please forgive my ignorance if any of my posts seem simple.
Cheers.
Pete.

Welcome Pete, nice to have someone from the Swanage team on the forum!

As you know I am very local to you (Poole) and have been reasonably involved with 1561 since managing to 'save' it at the last minute from Cocklesbury Yard at Swindon, where it and 1560 were so nearly cut for scrap in 2005. I was also able to supply quite a few of the parts and components which were at that time missing from it. It is a shame that fate was not quite so kind to 1560 in the end, but it did at least contribute parts to four other cranes.

I am always happy to help if needed, if I can.

Best wishes,

Roger
