Nice to see the all orange policy in place
I suppose it's a tandem lift to get those things up right? I can see something interesting in that photo but it's difficult to say without checking in person

I wonder if the BBC report is in error. Perhaps the temporary road is needed to get materials and machinery (e.g. 360 digger, not crane) to the site to stabilise the bank before the rail cranes can be placed in position for the lifts. |

Bearing in mind that the loaded wagons are on their sides and will have a glw of 88t or more, albeit some of the load will have fallen out, would it actually be practical to lift them with two cranes operating on the adjacent track even if the embankment was not subsiding ? The three wagons that remain upright but derailed could presumably be lifted onto the adjacent down line but it would appear easier to raise and slew them with jacks. I have no knowledge of the location beyond what is visible in the photos but would guess that as much of the load as possible will need to be removed before any attempt is made to lift the wagons that have gone down the bank. |

There is alot of rain forecast for the next few days, i wonder if they will try a sort of damage limitation exercise and then go for the big stuff after the ground has dried? |
