Ah my mistake, duff information from mates on site as to which way it was facing. :lol: An easy job for the crane crew then. :)

I was mistaken as well in not fully taking in the words that Bryan conveyed from the Works site, that the loco was "reversing back onto the train ... tender first"!

So, all now sorted. It's just a pity that the NVR crane team wasn't allowed to take on the re-railing using the crane as (a) they would have been very capable of it, (b) it would have saved many hours of hard slog and (c) it would have been a useful and enjoyable experience.

The lift may have extended the crane towards its limits as I said earlier, but the main man on the team knows the crane intimately and would know when to call off. I would have trusted him, but then I'm not the 'management'.
