Chris, Your thoughts are similar to mine. Time period can be narrowed down somewhat. The GWR roundel was not introduced until 1934, therefore the photo cannot be earlier than this. Photographic evidence suggests that the front driver's side step had been removed by 1940, suggesting that the photo was prior to this. The loco has lost the Weymouth Harbour Tramway bell. My guess would be that the photo may date from the time the loco was sent to Oswestry. Roger |
