I've created a new website (http://nvrcrane.systemsoft.co.uk) for this crane, which is resident at the Nene Valley Railway. It's deliberately a bit layman-focussed but I hope there may be some stuff of interest to BDCA members. The site includes a blog which will be updated from time to time. I'll post messages on this topic whenever that happens.

Comments on the site are very welcome.

Added some more to the blog pages (you might need to REFRESH/RELOAD) and added a page (VIDEOS) of links to youtube videos of the crane in action.

Very good and instructive from a users point of view..

I note the NVR has an R&R breakdown crane and an R&R turntable.....

Where could they fit in a pair of R&R hydraulic buffers to make up the set?

Very pleased to report successful hydraulic test on boiler this afternoon.

Moving now to get boiler into crane and raise some steam. Website has updates at http://nvrcrane.systemsoft.co.uk/201508.html.

Stan,

I'm aware that the re-tubing has been mainly of your doing, and is your first involvement with that type of task. I also observed the very high standard of your boiler work on my recent visit to the NVR.

Congratulations!

Very pleased to report successful steam test for MP3 this afternoon. Delighted also to have this witnessed by David Withers, of this parish, and Barry Redfearn, formerly BD Supervisor at Leeds Holbeck who worked with the crane between 1969-78.

Updates and more details soon on the website http://nvrcrane.systemsoft.co.uk

Good news continues at the NVR. Passed Lifting tackle insurance inspection today and are now fully operational.
