Seems there was a Freight train derailment at Lewisham with at least 3 bogie hoppers off.

Any idea if anything has been moved to assist?
Location looks difficult for a road mobile.

A BDC and associated vehicles has arrived on site from Warrington.

"""""""""Rail recovery crane has departed Warrington, will take crew relief at Crewe and then on to Wembley. Planned to depart Wembley at approximately 2100 ( Tuesday ) for Hoo Jn where it will sit until the next driver books on and be taken forward from Hoo Jn at 0200 to site. """""""""""

This is also stated ........ """""""""Additionally looking at the option of using Balfour Beatty Kirovs to speed the re-railing operations up, but this is not yet confirmed.""""""""" That would be a first for NetworkRail to make such a hiring.

""""""""""At 0540 (Tue) it was reported that 6M90 (GBRf) 0356 (Tue) Grain - Neasden had derailed on the Up Nunhead line at Courthill Loop North Jn (Lewisham).
Rear wagon: ERG 17316 still on the track.
1st from rear: ERG 17302 rear bogie 1 axle off, front bogie all wheels off.
2nd from rear: ERG 17320 completely derailed and on its side (approximately 20 tonnes of sand lost).
The remaining 15 wagons and loco were unaffected."""""""""""""

There are photos of the scene here .....

But not photos of the crane ..... or cranes; as it appears the working picked up the crane from Bescot en route.

Good find. There are several more photos if you visit the Media Centre "Pictures & Video" page.

Nice to see a rail BD crane doing what it was designed to do, an increasingly rare sight. There is also photographic evidence of men with shovels actually shovelling, another increasingly rare sight!

Heard today that this was the first lift by a NWR Breakdown crane in 4 years.
crane went to Llanwern a few weeks back but not used.
Also one reason for the lack of work may have been due to "Working at Height " regulations, In particular work around the jib.
This may have been complied with by the fitting of some sort of handrail system.
Any photos anyone?
