Post subject:  Cranes for sale at the Spa Valley

Not breakdown cranes, but it would still be a shame if they were scrapped.....

The Spa Valley Railway is currently advertising two cranes for sale, and it seems likely that they may be scrapped if there are no takers. The following text is taken from their 'for sale' advertisment:-

BR Taylor & Hubbard Heavy Duty 15ton capacity heavy duty travelling Diesel Electric Crane DRT81340 with jib runner DB70227. Built 1969. Withdrawn in operable condition for full overhaul which has been partially complete. Jib runner former SR PAN EMU under frame. No longer required, hence sale. May be willing to sell parts if no buyer for the complete crane by 16th September

LT Taylor & Hubbard 6ton capacity travelling Diesel Electric Crane, DEC622 with jib runner JC689 Built 1964 (jib carrier 1925) to London Underground Tube Gauge, now the last survivor of its type. Damaged slew box gear and case caused withdrawal. Has not run for a number of years, but was operational prior to withdrawal apart from the damaged slew box. Approx 43tons, length over jib carrier approx 65ft

A quantity of Taylor Hubbard spares are also available – may suit other cranes of a similar size and vintage.

Inspection can be arranged for genuine enquiries. Bids for complete items are requested by 16th September, otherwise we are likely to break for spares/scrap.

All serious enquires please email: disposals@spavalleyrailway.co.uk.

Please note that the BDCA has no involvement in the sale of these items, makes no recommendations, and has no further information about these cranes.
