"""""""""75 tonne Diesel Hydraulic Breakdown Cranes - ADRC 96710, 96713 & 96715
The three cranes are located at Network Rail/DB Cargo's Wigan Springs Branch depot.
Please note all viewing requests must be via Network Rail.
NB The cranes are only able to be road hauled from Wigan, a specialist road haulier with suitable experience and equipment will be required.""""""""""

One of the four stored at Wigan had previously been offered to the NRM. Does anyone know the status of that matter?

Whether any preservation line would want one I cannot imagine - they are rather sophisticated.
I don't know when their last valid licenses to operate ceased.

This confirms that a classic fleet of breakdown cranes in this country is at an end - the use of supposedly trackwork dedicated cranes for any job not accessible to road cranes seems to be the future.

The end of a long era.

I quite fancy one myself, but I suspect that they are not easily maintainable and spares will be a problem after a while. At least with a steam crane you can fairly easily make new parts.

I am tempted to try to arrange a viewing!
