Work started yesterday on preparing the GWS's 50 T Crane for its insurance inspection and test. The first thing to come off easily was the boiler pressure gauge, but everything else we touched needed more persuasion, particularly the wash-out plugs, which have been at the mercy of the elements. I'll do my best to keep you posted on the progress of the project. |

Peter, pinch the boiler out of the steam railmotor.....might make the crane out of guage though... Ask me nicely and I'll reletter it again, Has anyone got a pick of what the LMSR sign wrote on their cranes? Cheers Simon |

Can any of you Didcot chaps put me in touch with someone on the railmotor project? I have tried making contact via their website but no-one replied. I need to find or commission a pair of standard GWR backhead clacks for the GWR no. 2 crane to replace a pair stolen off my boiler whilst it was at Tyseley, and since they are identical to those used on the railmotor I would like to know who made those, since presumably someone has the patterns and drawings. Please feel free to pm me if you can help. If anyone knows where I can get a pair of clacks please let me know. Thanks, Roger |
