Anybody identify which crane is featured in this clip.

Any guesses as to what the H+S brigade would say if the wagon rides were repeated now.

Hello Bryan,

Interesting clip, especially the crane bit from 3:10! The crane is almost certainly the 1919 Ransomes & Rapier 35-tonner known as GER SB4 / LNER 961600 / BR 135, withdrawn 1967.

There are some photos in the Gallery of this crane in more normal operation, courtesy Colin Rush, at http://www.bdca.org.uk/gallery/index.ph ... -135-Album.

Co-incidentally, there is a photo in the Brownlie book (Fig. 5) of this very same crane suspending a wagonload of people at Southend in 1933. The photo is aptly captioned "A revolution in container traffic".
