35S Ransomes & Rapier is one of the cranes.
This was part of a significant extension of third-rail electrification.

Followed by steam freight activity in Worthing area, interesting to me at least as I spent my teenage years there, the infrastructure was there on the verge of removal then, great to see the train working on this film taken during steam days.

Worthing yard and A signalbox, and the parcels dock at the other, South Farm Road end, passenger station between these 2 points. The old Broadwater bridge too.

Neil,

An excellent find, thanks for posting!

I haven't had the chance to watch it in full yet, but I suspect that the other crane is either 80S or 81S (since I didn't see any evidence of relieving bogies).

When I have time I will watch more closely.

Roger

Sadly it seems that the video is no longer on 'youtube'. Shame.

Unfortunately a complaint to You Tube about use of some other vintage material on his channel led to voluntary closure of the whole channel including this interesting 1930's film.

I believe the bridge film will be on one of the three Southern discs below,

have recently bought the 3 disc dvd set, not yet received.

The above link describes Eric Sparks film that includes Ford bridge renewal.

Having received the set of DVD's referred to above, and after viewing, regrettably the Ford Bridge rebuilding film from 1930's was not included. However, I now know who to contact, and will do so requesting an authorised link to the film on this Forum.
