Post subject:  Lots of crane footage!

Another DVD of interest to the crane enthusiast is "British Steam Railway Disasters 1913 - 1967", currently available from several on-line suppliers including Amazon.co.uk.

The title is in fact something of a misnomer since "British Steam-Crane-Era Railway Disasters" would be more accurate - several of the incidents featured involve accidents later than the demise of steam locomotion, but all feature steam breakdown cranes.

The programme is a 79-minute collection of archive news footage covering 55
significant accidents between the years in the title, including (of course) the
most notorious such as Harrow & Wealdstone, Lewisham St. Johns, Hither Green,
and Bourne End.

From the crane enthusiast's point of view, the video is fascinating, since
generally the news fil crews arrived after the cranes were already at work. I
have never come across so much steam crane footage on one single DVD before!

When time permits I will list the incidents (and if possible the cranes involved) amd post them here. This may take a while though!

Please be aware however that although 'exempt from classification' this video does feature some scenes which include casualties and cadavers, so some viewer discretion is
advised.

This is undoubtedly one of the most interesting films I have seen for quite a while.
