Did anybody watch this BBC2 21.00 Wed 3-12-14 There was a brief shot of an Israeli Railway Museum and a very brief shot of a Cowans Sheldon Crane. Any details known? |

The episode is available on Iplayer - here I haven't seen it yet but will watch, I am sure that Chris can tell us exactly which crane it is! |

There are in fact two cranes in the Haifa museum which appear in the programme, and there are two very clear photos of the two cranes at the following URLs:- the green crane the red crane The cranes are as follows; the information below was provided to me by Chris Capewell in an email during 2007 (and presented here in Chris's usual format):- The green crane.... 19007 - Egyptian State Railways, to Israel Rly - SG - S - 30T - 6-4W - CS 9319/50 Runner wagon is by Hurst Nelson of Motherwell, dated 1950 Hopwood type boiler built by Cochran & Co of Annan No.K2484/1950. ex Egyptian State Rly. captured by Israel and IR no. C-30-1. Stored at Qishon for eventual museum preservation 4/99 At ISRAEL RAILWAYS MUSEUM, HAIFA EAST station 3/2001 The red crane, with its locally sourced/made? boiler... PR 1 - WD to Palestine Rly. - S - 25T - 4-4W - CS 3855/17 The runner wagon is Cowans Sheldon number 31/1918. Stored at Qishon for eventual museum preservation 4/99 At ISRAEL RAILWAYS MUSEUM, HAIFA EAST station 3/2001 |
