The crane databases have been updated to show the change of location of 1561S (ADRR95210) from Southall to the Swanage Railway. Note that the accuracy of these databases relies upon information received, so please get in touch if you know of - or simply suspect - any change.

Lots more pictures have been uploaded to the Gallery. The latest of these can be found in reverse chronological order by clicking on "Latest photos..." but please be aware that the photos are often out of order in that list; also the text accompanying them simply 'runs on' (i.e. there's no line spacing). No such problem in the standard displays.

A fascinating British Transport Commission memorandum has been added to the Gallery under 'Miscellaneous Images'.

Within the section 'The Preservation Era', the ultimate paragraphs have been rewritten to reflect information received indirectly from two insurance companies regarding the requirements for prescribed examinations of water-tube vertical-boilers.

Within the section 'The Twilight Years of the Steam Crane', information has been added on the reasons behind British Railways' decision to specify steam power for most of the new cranes ordered for delivery in the 1960s. There's also some information about the broadly concurrent provision of sets of MFD equipment.
