Any points to consider when reroping a Ransomes 45t ?

The Hoist Rope is fairly straightforward, ideally feed it straight off the delivery drum.

The Derrick rope takes a while to get right. It has to be laid out with both ends together, the centre found and then this has to be fixed onto the derricking drum. It has to fit into a very tight radius bracket, this takes quite an effort to get to sit right. Reeving the pulleys takes time and effort.

We used a road rail digger to pull out the rope and to keep it tensioned while hoisting (derricking) in the slack, before reeving.

Does this mean that you are getting yours up and running again?

Unsure what the situation is as yet.
But it appears that the ropes were condemned last week.
The crane has been awaiting boiler work as well at Grosmont for nearly 2 years, it may be possible that this has been done, if so then a rerope may be on the cards especially as I think we have spare rope in stock.
Will update when I know anything definite, just that communication between Grosmont and Newbridge is almost non existant.
