Well I've had an interesting few days on the Southern region, running around cutting up trees. Whole trees that have come out of the ground complete with roots and found their way onto the railway.
I don't know if it happened during the "Good old days of BR" but we could have used a Breakdown train complete with crane, to make our way along clearing up. A nice tool van to keep chain saws, petrol and other important tools, with a nice mess van to rest in between jobs.

We had one had come down from a Forest on an embankment above the railway. It had fallen across both roads and was resting in a precarious position. A crane would have been a god send to pick it and gently place it out of the way.

In the BR days Steve we all messed in! I'm sure if a crane would have helped then something would have been sorted!
