Don't know if this has been mentioned on here before. I was recently lent a copy of "Taking the Weight" a book by Bob Wilis about his working life from Apprentice to Tool Van Supervisor at Thornaby TMD between 1962 and 1990. Goes through his career starting with faults on various Diesels and then progression on to recovery operations in the North East including quite a bit on working with a 45t Cowans. First published April 2014 £13.95 ISBN - 978-0-9928999-0-5 No publisher detail but printed by Burgess Design and Print of Retford. I have no connection with Bob Willis but thought this book deserved to be known about. |
