An article has appeared in the latest issue of NERA Express Aug 2016 Vol 55 no 223.
On the Bridge Building on the Billingham Bypass in 1943 by John Kearney.
Several photos of a Tandem lift of the main beams using 2 Cranes one of which is identified a CME 1 bought by the NER in 1916. CS Works number 3335. In 1943 it is listed as being allocated to York.
The second crane cannot be identified other than as being a Cowans 45t one of 6 built for the LNER in 1940.

The load is very close to the limit being that the girder weighs 70 tons.

Photos are part of the NERA / G Horsman collection.

Good find, thanks for posting.

Is that a third crane in the right background of the first photo? I can't quite make out the silhouette.
