Post subject:  Updates - 9th April 2012

BDCA member Peter Woad, one of the three drivers in the 1970s of Holbeck's 40-ton crane DE 331159 (later ADRR95207), has filled in several gaps in our recordal of that crane's history. The article at http://bdca.org.uk/mp3.html has been updated accordingly, in particular the part relating to the jib runner.

Peter has also provided four action photographs of '159 for the Gallery (see http://www.bdca.org.uk/gallery/index.ph ... /ADRR95207).

A broad description of the way in which a relieving-bogie reduces the axle-load of a breakdown crane has been added to http://www.bdca.org.uk/gallery/index.ph ... eassembled.

Another 80 photographs have been uploaded to the Gallery. Thanks for these are due to BDCA members Roger Cooke, Mick House, David Morgan, Peter Tatlow and Peter Woad, and non-members John Dalton and Tony Page.

The new photos will be found within http://www.bdca.org.uk/gallery/index.php, in the following albums:
Ransomes & Rapier: ADRR numbers 95201, 95207, 95208, 95209, 95210, 95216; also DS1197, GWR No. 2, GWR No. 3.
Cowans Sheldon: ADRC numbers 95202, 95204, 95217, 96101, 96201, 96701, 96702, 96703, 96707, 96716, 96719.
Miscellaneous Images: Three crane works plates, plus a 1909 Great Western Railway Magazine article relating to the introduction of GWR No. 1 and No. 2 cranes.
Scale Models: CME14 (7.1/4" gauge)

Thanks to all who have contributed towards the high standing of the BDCA. More posts to the Forum would be useful, otherwise I think we are doing very well indeed for what is a rather specialist organisation.
